Celebrating Influential Fashion Icon Iris Apfel

As the founder of budding fashion house Candis Creations, I look up to fashion designers and fashion icons. Fashion icons and fashion designers have such as influence on fashion. Growing up learning about their style and attitude to fashion greatly influenced my desire to launch Candis Creations and the designs of Candis pretty and comfortable lingerie. A conversation about fashion icons isn’t complete without discussing Iris Apfel who celebrated her 100th birthday on 29th August, 2021!

Iris is all about expressing who you are and enjoying life! She wasn’t donned a fashion icon until she was 83. She proves that fashion isn’t just for the young; it’s for the young at heart! The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York brought the world’s attention to Iris Apfel. They identified her unique and strong sense of style which is a mix of anything from haute couture and second hand pieces. She enjoys wearing oversized jewellery and glasses. Iris is an interior designer and designs textile fabrics. She loves bright colours and patters. She translates this to her fashion.

Iris also inspires me as a businesswoman. Iris and her husband founded their own company in 1950, Old World Weavers. She is a highly successful businesswoman and fashion icon.

I love fashion icons like Iris because I believe that fashion should be fun! That’s why I design Candis lace underwear to be comfortable and pretty underwear so you can wear it all day, every day. Candis ladies’ underwear combines the comfort of cotton with the beauty of lace so you can feel everyday sexy, every day! I hope that I’m still as stylish and confident as Iris when I turn 100. I also hope that Candis Creations is still creating pretty lingerie and pink panties!
